The photo challenge for the past week is: “Between:”

Box Canyon, near Florence, AZ

Having the bag on the back of the bike like that always makes it look like that’s my big butt! It isn’t!! 🙂

  1. I LOVE that pic. I just got my 2009 F650 (twin) in December, (I used to have an 1150GS that was TOO big) and one of the reasons I got it was to ride ‘Titus Canyon’ in Death Valley. That pic you took, is what I imagine in my mind, when I think about Titus Canyon.

On a separate note, I’m riding my F650 around the perimeter of America starting next March. I’ll keep you posted on my progress, if you’re interested. — Tom

    • I am very interested, Tom! That is awesome. Please keep me posted when you are on your trip. 🙂

Sometime in the future, I would also like to get the newer F650GS, the twin. I always wanted that bike, and finally BMW came out with it. I just can’t afford to buy a new bike right now, though, because I would like to keep my F800ST as well. I really like my ’06 GS, though, it’s the second one I’ve owned. The first one was problematic, it was an ’05, but I’m glad I gave the bike a second chance. This one’s been great.

  2. I never would have thought about any photos showing a ponderous posterior, a bounteous backside, a substantial seat, a “big butt.” Now that you mention it, though, I will start checking your posts. The canyon looks pretty cool, though. How far is it boxy like that?

    Happy New Year!

    • Hi Randy,

The canyon is “boxy” like that for quite a ways, and then it gets really rough, like four-wheel-drive rough. There are big rocks, and a rock wall to climb up, short, but somewhat technical. I had to turn around that day because my little F650GS is too low, I have no ground clearance to speak of. I did go back with my Yamaha on another day and rode the whole thing clean. Sometimes a smaller bike is the right tool for the job!

Happy New Year to you as well. I hope things improve for my mom, but right now it’s not looking too good.
