Tree bones

Bones of wood

Weathered wood like bones,
artifacts of life in the forest,
woven bits of life exploded
in a single bolt of lightning.

  1. A single seed
becomes a sapling and then a tree,
    to shade travelers,
to feed birds and squirrels and insects,
to house birds and squirrels and insects,
and returns to earth to feed
    another seed.

Come on. Of course I had to take up your challenge of a brief poem about trees. I especially liked the last two lines. Nice imagery.
